Maksym Krippa, a notable yet enigmatic figure in Kyiv’s real estate and the global esports industry, has granted Forbes his first in-depth interview. According to Coregamer.net, over the past two years, during the war in Ukraine, Krippa has become one of the most influential investors in the country’s capital. His portfolio includes ownership of key enterprises such as NAVI, Maincast, and GSC Game World. For the first time, he openly shares details about his wealth, major acquisitions, and strategic decisions.
A New Era for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and GSC Game World
On November 20, the gaming community celebrated the long-awaited release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. This milestone followed 15 years of delays, numerous setbacks, and a pivotal change in ownership at GSC Game World, the Ukrainian studio behind the iconic franchise. At 47, entrepreneur Maksym Krippa acquired the studio from its founder, Serhiy Grygorovych, cementing his reputation as a visionary leader capable of reshaping industries.
Why Speak Out Now?
During the ongoing war with Russia, Krippa made a series of high-profile investments, including acquiring the Parus business center in Kyiv from Vadym Stolar, a luxury estate in Kozyn, and the historic Hotel Ukraina, strategically located near Independence Square. He also took over NAVI, Ukraine’s most prominent esports team, from Oleksandr Kokhanovskyi.
Although NAVI’s acquisition became public in 2022, Krippa had largely avoided media appearances, responding to inquiries only in writing. However, he recently chose to break his silence. “Smart advisors told me it was time to address everything,” he said. He also admitted that comparisons made by Economic Pravda to Serhiy Kurchenko, a controversial figure from the Yanukovych era, played a role in his decision to speak out.
“When you launch a game that sells millions across Europe and the U.S., maintaining a clear public image becomes crucial,” Krippa stated, emphasizing his position as a global gaming investor and entrepreneur.
The Setting and Discussion
The interview took place in Krippa’s office at the Parus business center amidst an air raid alert. The setting reflected his patriotic commitment, with Ukrainian military flags, unit patches, and symbols of support for the Armed Forces displayed prominently.
Over the course of two hours, Krippa discussed his acquisition of GSC Game World, the challenges of developing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and his ventures in real estate. The conversation also touched on the story of how he built his fortune—from his first million to achieving substantial wealth on a global scale.
